This interactive presentation is designed for resource and kinship parents who are caring for children affected by substance-related issues and parental addiction. Participants will learn effective communication strategies to help children understand and process their experiences while fostering a supportive environment. The session will cover age-appropriate language, emotional support techniques, and practical resources to aid in these critical conversations. By equipping parents with the tools they need, we aim to promote healing and resilience in children facing these challenges.

Learning Objectives
1. Identify age-appropriate communication techniques for discussing substance use and parental addiction with children of various developmental stages.
2. Understand the emotional impact of parental addiction on children and how to recognize signs of distress or confusion.
3. Develop strategies for creating a supportive environment where children feel safe to express their feelings and ask questions.
4. Learn how to address common misconceptions children may have about substance use and addiction, fostering an understanding that promotes healing.
5. Explore available resources and support systems for both parents and children to aid in navigating the complexities of substance-related issues.
