Description

This workshop will define what parental resiliency is and the importance of resiliency for those parents who are fostering or adopting. Through discussion, parents will recognize the kinds of parenting challenges that are likely to occur when fostering or adopting children who have experienced trauma, separation, and loss. The four building blocks of parental resiliency will be discussed. The importance of self-care and the steps necessary to build and maintain self-care will also be highlighted.

REMINDERS

  • In order to receive credit for attending this workshop, participants must attend at least 75% of the session. No partial credit will be issued.
  • If two or more people are sharing a device and each wants credit:
    • Each must register for the webinar
    • All names must be typed in to the webinar chat at the beginning and again at the end of the webinar
    • Everyone must be visible on camera for the duration of the training
  • These offerings are based on the federally funded, National Training and Development Curriculum (NTDC) released to the public for free in June 2022. NTDC was funded through a five-year cooperative agreement with the Department of Health and Human Services, Administration for Children and Families, Children’s Bureau and in partnership with Spaulding for Children, and with other partner agencies. NTDC is based on research and input from experts and families who have experience with fostering or adopting children, and former foster and adoptive youth.
