Pyramid Model Training for the Infant and Toddler Classroom - Module 3: Intensive Interactions

Mod 3 focuses on Tier 3 of the Pyramid Model, which looks at adult activities to respond to and reduce the need for intensive outside intervention related to behavioral needs. In this mod, participants will learn how to gather data around child behaviors to help understand the meaning and function of the behavior to create a behavior plan that meets the needs of that specific child. This process allows us to create an individualized intensive intervention.   

After completing the module, learners will be able to:        

• Be able to identify how trauma affects child development and behavior, and name the protective factors that they can help build in children who have experienced trauma      
• Use a behavior support planning chart to determine the meaning behind a child’s challenging behavior and create an individualized plan to address the behavior      
• Create a positive behavior support plan for a child in their classroom      
• Identify action steps need to implement the Pyramid Model framework in their classroom 

Upon successful completion of module 3, you will receive a certificate of completion with six (6) hours of Child Development clock hours from the Maryland State Department of Education.
