Pyramid Model Training for the Infant and Toddler Classroom - Module 2: Social Emotional Assessment and Targeted Social Emotional Strategies
Module 2 focuses on Tier 2 of the Pyramid Model, which looks at adult activities to prevent the need for intervention related to behavioral needs. In this mod, participants will learn about targeted social emotional supports and how to intentionally teach social emotional skills to children, including emotional literacy, emotional regulation, and play skills.
After completing the module, learners will be able to:
- Describe the importance of teaching social and emotional skills to students and identify the most impactful times to incorporate social and emotional teaching into their day
- Identify new strategies and tools for developing the following social and emotional skills required for school readiness among children in their classroom: Social and emotional literacy and intelligence; Emotional Regulation & Play Skills
- Develop multimodal and/or multisensory classroom aids to support students’ learning of social and emotional skills
- Create an individual plan for a child who is in need of more intentional teaching of a particular social and emotional skill
Upon successful completion of module 2, you will receive a certificate of completion with six (6) hours of Child Development clock hours from the Maryland State Department of Education.
