Module 1 looks specifically at universal supports for the healthy social emotional development of all children including, nurturing and responsive relationships, and supportive environments.
After completing the module, learners will be able to:
Understand how an individual child’s social emotional development history, temperament, relationship history, exposure to trauma, and cultural history can affect their behavior and apply this knowledge to children they have worked with
Assess their own strengths in building relationships with students and identify new practices for building nurturing and responsive relationships with all children in their classroom
Assess their own strengths in providing a supportive child-centered environment (including the provision of positive supports for child transitions, giving directions, teaching classroom rules and designing an effective classroom environment) and identify new strategies for growth/improvement linked to areas that the participant has self-identified as a need Develop multimodal and/or multisensory classroom aids to support children in learning about schedules and routines, transition warnings and classroom rules
Upon successful completion of module 1, you will receive a certificate of completion with six (6) hours of Child Development clock hours from the Maryland State Department of Education.
